Can I bring in a cooler, or outside food?

Coolers are allowed on the pool decks; however, NO glass bottles/containers are allowed.  No alcohol is allowed on site.  We feature a small snack bar at our pools that provide snacks and beverages to purchase.  Outside food and beverages are allowed, but please remember to pick up your trash.

What type of clothing is allowed in the water?

Swimsuits are required to enter the water.  All additional clothing must be clean.  Jeans, sandals, and/or athletic shorts are not permitted in the water.  No cutoffs or suits with loose strings are allowed.  Infants must wear waterproof diapers with fitted elastic around each leg.

What types of flotation devices are permitted?

Noodles and Coast Guard approved flotation devices (Types I, II, and III) are the ONLY PFDs allowed in the pool.  Life vests are available at no charge on a first-come, first-serve basis. No other flotation devices (water wings, air mattresses, rafts, etc.) are allowed at the pools. To view approved and non-approved flotation devices click here.

How old does a child have to be to come to the pool by themselves?

All children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a guardian or adult (19 years and older) at all times.  Children 8 to 12 years of age must pass a swim test in order to swim at the pool unaccompanied by a parent or guardian.  Children over 12 years may swim unaccompanied by an adult.  A child must understand he or she may lose this privilege for inappropriate behavior at the pool.  Swim tests will be administered by the Assistant Manager or Pool Manager.

Are there any restrictions on using the Diving Well?

Children under 6 years of age are prohibited from using the diving boards.  Children under 13 years of age are required to take a diving board test and must meet the height requirement of 4 ft.  Anyone over the age of 13 years may be subject to take a diving board test.

Who is permitted in the Baby Pool or Children’s Pool?

The baby pool is limited to children under the age of 6 years; children over the age of 6 years are NOT allowed in the baby pool.  Kids in the baby pool must be monitored or supervised by a parent or guardian (19 years or older) at all times.  Infants MUST wear waterproof diapers with fitted elastic around each leg.

Are goggles or masks allowed?

Goggles or masks are allowed at all of our swimming facilities.

Can you rent one of the pool facilities for a birthday party or private event?

Have your next birthday, wedding reception, or anniversary party at the pool! We will provide the lifeguards. The Auburn City Pools are now available for rental on an hourly basis (two hour minimum). The fee is $75 per hour for up to 50 guests and an additional $25 for up to 80 guests.  Waivers must be signed by all participants and all pool rules and regulations apply.  Samford Pool availability: Saturdays 6 – 8 p.m.  Drake Pool availability: Mon. – Sun. 5-8 p.m. (except during swim lesson sessions/ 6 – 8 p.m.)   Contact the Pool Manager at (334) 501-2957 for more information. 

Can I purchase a season pass?

Yes!  Splash Pass Season Passes are available for purchase beginning in early Spring of each year at the Administrative Office located at the Harris Center, 425 Perry Street. Splash Passes are valid until the last day of the season and are valid at both pools. Splash Passes are accepted during the Early Bird Swim Season and are valid at all Float-n-Movies during the season.  Passes are $50 for an Individual and $125 for a Family*. (*The Family pass is valid for immediate family members, including parents or guardians and children under the age of 19, residing in the same household only).

What Special Events do you have planned for the 2015 Season?
Float-N-Movies: Relax on your favorite pool float and enjoy a movie while you float in the pool.  Concessions will be available throughout the evening. FREE admission with your Splash Pass or $2/person.

Do you offer private swim lessons?

If you are interested in one-on-one instruction for all levels of ability, please contact the Aquatics Programs Specialist, Laura Parker, at 334-501-2957. The participant will be matched with a swim instructor. Children under 3 years may require parent participation in the pool. $15/half hour session.

Do you offer refunds or rain checks?

It is the policy of the Auburn Parks and Recreation department that there will be NO refunds for the closing of a facility due to inclement weather or illness.  If the facility is able to reopen after the inclement weather has passed, there will be no charge to re-enter the facility.

How will I know if the pool has been closed for the day?

Pool Closures will be posted on site, on the City of Auburn website and you can join our Parks and Rec. Pool Announcement E-List.  Every time the pool is closed for inclement weather or for other reasons, you will receive an e-mail notification.  To sign-up, click here.
