2015 Special Municipal Bond Election

Final Official Vote Totals: 2,438 votes cast for the initiative, 428 cast against

The Auburn City Council called for a special election that was held on April 28, 2015 to ask voters to approve funding for construction of a new Auburn High School using the Special Five Mill Property Tax Fund. Mayor Ham announced last year plans to use the five mill fund, generating approximately $3.7 million annually, as part of a strategy to assist Auburn City Schools with their facility needs in the face of rapid enrollment growth.

Auburn City Schools is the fastest growing school district in Alabama, with over over 4,500 new students projected over the next decade.

The new Auburn High School has a planned opening date of Fall 2017.
