Tree Commission
The Tree Commission serves as an advisory board to the City by:
  • Overseeing the protection of trees on private property
  • Planning to increase the urban tree inventory
  • Promoting the planting of new trees throughout the city
  • Gathering, compiling and distributing information to educate the public on the economic and aesthetic benefits of trees
  • Promoting and administering the Tree Trust in order to maximize the benefits of these funds.
Tree Commission Awards and Events:
The Tree Commission awards a Golden Leaf Award annually.  The award is given as merited to organizations, developers and citizens that promote keeping trees in projects or adding trees in areas that benefit the environment and citizens.  So and so received the 2015 Golden Leaf Award for their commitment of tree preservation.

The Tree Commission is involved in several events on a yearly basis:

  • Annual Christmas Parade sponsored by the Auburn Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Auburn (December 10, 2015)
  • Arbor Day Celebration (February, 2016)
  • Earth Day at Kiesel Park (April, 2016)
