Summer Reading is back! This year's themes are "Every Hero Has a Story" for children and "Unmask!" for teens, and we’re looking forward to a summer filled with imagination and adventure. The Auburn Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is open to young people from birth through 12th grade, and you can register anytime between May 22 and July 29. Every child who meets their reading goal will be entered into our grand prize drawing, which includes a LeapPad Ultra Early Learning Tablet (for our youngest readers) and a Kindle Fire HD 7 (for our school-age and teen readers). In addition, every Wednesday, we’ll host special programs for all ages, including movies, magic, animals, science experiments, and our own City of Auburn firefighters.

Activities like our Summer Reading Program would not be possible without the support of our community partners, including the Friends of the Auburn Public Library and the Auburn City Schools. Working together, we’re able to promote literacy and academic achievement, while helping our young people develop a lifelong love of reading.

Also, if you’re planning any road trips this summer, remember that the Auburn Public Library has an extensive collection of audiobooks to help pass the time! Whether you prefer books-on-CD or MP3, or downloadable audiobooks through OverDrive or OneClick Digital, be sure to check out what we have to offer.

As always, we’re here to help, and I look forward to seeing you at the library!
