Engineering/Administration

The Water Resource Management Department Engineering/Administration Division operates with a staff of 7 full time employees and 1 part time student assistant. The Engineering Division is responsible for providing managerial and technical support to the Water, Sewer, and Watershed Divisions of the Water Resource Management Department as well as providing support and customer service to other City Departments, developers, contractors and citizens of Auburn.

 

 

 

 

The Engineering Division is responsible for protecting the City’s water resources and for ensuring that water and sewer services not only meet the City’s needs today, but also for the foreseeable future.  The Engineering Division does this by:  

  • Developing and reviewing plans and specifications for water and sewer infrastructure projects.
  • Developing and evaluating design and construction standards for incorporation into the WRM Design Manual.
  • Managing and inspecting major construction projects.
  • Reviewing Planning Commission cases for water and sewer infrastructure concerns.
  • Reviewing Planning Commission cases for environmental concerns (stream buffers, wetland buffers, potential Corps permitting issues, etc.).
  • Providing assistance to the Planning Department in the development of long term development goals such as the Comp 2030 Plan.
  • Communicating and coordinating with developers, contractors and consulting engineers.
  • Tracking water and sewer demand growth trends.
  • Actively managing water supply sources.
  • Aggressively monitoring the City’s watersheds for water quality and potential contaminants.
  • Overseeing operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Overseeing compliance with state and federal permit requirements.
  • Providing technical assistance to other City departments, developers, consulting engineers and citizens.
