Chewacla State Park

Chewacla's 696 scenic acres are a delightful pause from nearby interstate traffic.  Tranquil park facilities include a 26-acre lake, swimming area, playgrounds, hiking trails, a modern campground and picnic areas with tables, grills and shelters.  There are newly renovated cabins you are bound to fall in love with.  Chewacla State Park is a great place to get away for some rest and relaxation or the perfect place to stay the weekend of the big ballgame.  You can watch the sunset on the lake from your cabin and enjoy the fireplace on a cool fall day.

Louise Kreher Forest Ecology Preserve

The Forest Ecology Preserve is a nature center established as an outreach program of the Auburn University School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences.  It is supported principally through private gifts and the efforts of many volunteers. The center has been established to reach out to all people of every age with a strong focus on families and children.  Besides providing 110 acres with miles of beautiful wooded hiking trails and other special features, it also provides regularly scheduled programs presented by professionals in their field.

Donald E. Davis Arboretum, Auburn University

The Davis Arboretum is an Auburn University facility dedicated to the display of native woody plants of the Southeastern United States.  It is a teaching resource for many University classes.  In addition to displaying native plants, its purpose is to promote ecological education through the study and observation of plants and their natural habitats.

The Alabama Land Trust

The mission of the Alabama Land Trust is to protect land for present and future generations.  The Land Trust began as a volunteer-based organization in 1994.  Since their inception, they have worked with landowners to help them protect their land and create a family legacy for their children and future generations.  To date, their full-time staff has protected over 25,000 acres across Alabama.
